Mechanical Elephant Gifted by Shilpa Shetty Kundra, PETA India & CUPA to be Launched by Ministers at Shri Jagadguru Renukacharya Temple, Chikkamagaluru

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India and Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA) invite you to the unveiling of Veerabhadra, an extraordinary 3-metre-tall mechanical elephant weighing 800 kilograms. Veerabhadra, who will be unveiled by Honorable Cabinet Minister, Forest, Ecology and Environment Shri. Eshwar B Khandre and Honorable Minister, Energy, Shri. K. J. George and other dignitaries is a gift from actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra, PETA India & CUPA to the Shri Jagadguru Renukacharya Temple at the Shrimad Jagadguru Rambhapuri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Peetha at Balehonnur in honour of the temple’s commitment to never hiring or keeping real elephants. Veerabhadra will be the first mechanical elephant to be kept by a temple in the district of Chikkamagaluru.

In celebration of the centenary birth ceremony of Shrimad Rambhapuri Veerarudramuni Jagadguru on 15 December, Member of Legislative Assembly of Sringeri Constituency Shri. T.D. Rajegowda and former Minister of Karnataka Shri D.N. Jeevaraj, Chairman of Shri Jagadguru Vidya Institute, Shri U.M Basavarja and His Holiness Srimadh Rambapuri Veerasimhasanadishwara Sri Sri 1008 Jagadguru Prasanna Renuka

Dr.Veerasomeshwara Rajadesikendra Shivacharya Bhagavatpadaru will join the inauguration and celebrations.

The inauguration will also include spiritual leaders of Rambhapuri Peetha, CUPA trustees and co-founders Dr Sheila Rao and Ms. Suparna Ganguly, PETA India Director of Advocacy Projects Ms. Khushboo Gupta, and temple devotees.

The inauguration ceremony will be followed by mangala vadhyam.

By using mechanical elephants, real elephants can remain with their families in their forest homes and be spared the suffering of being constantly chained, controlled with weapons, and deprived of everything that’s natural and important to them.

What:             Unveiling of a realistic mechanical ceremonial elephant in the presence of other dignitaries and devotees.
